Harry Sherrard
PRINCIPAL
Harry Sherrard is the principal of Sherrards, and has been a specialist employment lawyer for over 20 years. He is “well known and respected” in the market, and appreciated for his “common-sense approach and manner.” In The Legal 500 Harry is recommended for his “practical, immediate advice.”

Work highlights include:
Defending a logistics business in a 21 day employment tribunal case brought by several employees and encompassing unfair dismissal, whistleblowing and discrimination allegations. All claims were dismissed, and substantial costs orders obtained against the claimants. The case was reported in the Daily Telegraph amongst other media.
Carrying out a restructure of a professional services business resulting in over 70 redundancies, including writing a voluntary redundancy scheme, planning and undertaking personally all individual and collective consultation meetings and negotiating compromise agreements for all leavers.
Representing a medical practice facing a complex whistleblowing claim, which in turn led to disputes between the partners. Managing investigation into and thereafter response to the whistleblowing claim which resulted in the claim being settled for 10% of the sum originally demanded. Mediating and advising partners and achieving resolution of management disputes.
Harry writes and lectures widely on employment law issues and has conducted numerous training programmes for clients throughout the UK and is the author of two books on employment law.
Harry has been involved in motorsport for over 25 years and currently competes in historic rallies in a 1983 Audi 80 Quattro.

Dan Soanes
DIRECTOR, SOLICITOR
Dan, a Director of Sherrards, is a very experienced employment law specialist solicitor. He has represented the firm’s clients at many Employment Tribunals around the UK, and provides advice on a wide range of employment issues. Dan is noted for his incisive but practical approach to employment law issues.

Work highlights include:
Successfully defending a complex whistleblowing claim in the Manchester Employment Tribunal – a contentious claim in which the Claimant asserted that he had been asked to falsify important health and safety documents prior to dismissal. Providing advice on both the investigation and disciplinary process which led to the Claimant’s dismissal, plus involvement throughout the case up to and including advocacy services at the hearing itself. All claims were dismissed.
Successfully representing a large logistics business in a five day race and sex discrimination claim. All claims were dismissed and a costs award was made against the Claimant’s representative.
Advising on a controversial and potentially high profile exit of a senior executive following the sale of a business. A favourable outcome was achieved for the client, including the negotiation of confidentiality clauses and post-termination restrictions.
Advising on a large-scale restructuring and contract variation exercise for a public sector employer, involving several redundancies and resulting in substantial savings for the client. Personally attending consultation meetings with trade union representatives and negotiating on behalf of the employer. Despite substantial opposition at the outset, no claims arose from this exercise.
Dan’s style in tribunals has been described as “effective, shrewd and dignified” and his wealth of experience in that environment, as well as his down to earth approach, mean he is able to put clients and witnesses at ease.
He regularly conducts in-house training to clients across the UK on employment law topics and also runs detailed 1:1 training sessions with senior managers and executives. An accomplished piano and keyboard player, Dan plays with bands and choirs around Sussex and is a keen cyclist.

Lorraine Sherrard
DIRECTOR
Lorraine is a Director of Sherrards and Sherrards Occupational Health and is a highly experienced HR Consultant.
Lorraine joined the team at Sherrards in 2004 and has worked on a wide range of HR initiatives with many clients over the past 20 years.

Previously Lorraine spent 15 years in the airline industry working for Aer Lingus and Swissport Ground Handling, where she studied her CIPD and managed recruitment and training projects. She has experience within the charity sector from several years as a Trustee to an Outdoor Education Centre providing opportunities for young people.
More recently she has trained within the discipline of NLP coaching, becoming an accredited QTT™ Behavioural Coach. Lorraine is looking forward to introducing it to our clients. Lorraine is our resident menopause expert and is licensed to deliver training to clients in this area.
Lorraine has always loved travel from those early airline days and keeping active is important to her. She runs to half marathon level with her club and is regularly seen out on her bike or at boot camp.

Rachel Nicholas
SOLICITOR
Rachel joined Sherrards in November 2018. Rachel graduated from the University of Brighton with an LLB (Honours) and went on to complete a Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Guildford.

Tasneem Rahman
SOLICITOR
Tasneem, the newest member of the Sherrards team, joined in August 2026 as a newly qualified solicitor. Having completed her legal studies and professional training, Tasneem is passionate about employment law and strives to provide excellent client service.

Aby Gillingham
PARALEGAL
Aby joined the Sherrards team in early 2026 and prior to this studied Law at Northumbria University in Newcastle graduating with a 2:1 in Law LLB.

Pam Austen
PRACTICE MANAGER
Pam joined the team in May 2020 as Practice Manager taking on the responsibility for general management of the firm.

Pam has extensive knowledge of business, operational and HR management at executive and senior level positions working across established organisations and start-ups. This experience started in the telecoms industry but she has now spend 20 years in the legal sector.
In her spare time Pam likes spending time with her family and friends, long walks with her dog, going to the cinema and travelling.

Graham Walls
HEAD OF FINANCE
Graham trained as an accountant with Grant Thornton and has worked in the UK and overseas, gaining broad experience in a variety of industries with particular focus on the growth of small to medium sized companies. Graham joined Sherrards in 2004 and oversees the finance function.

Graham is also a non executive director for other companies and is Chair of Home-Start Worthing & Adur, a local charity that assists children and parents to improve a child’s start in life.

Sarah Hammant
MARKETING MANAGER
Sarah joined the team at Sherrards in March 2010 and is responsible for all marketing activities from seminars and workshops to advertising, exhibitions, PR and e-marketing.

Sarah started her marketing career in the high technology industry and has held marketing communications roles in many other industries including pharmaceuticals, recruitment, training and design. She has also worked as a freelance marketing consultant for several small to medium sized businesses.
In her spare time Sarah enjoys travelling, skiing, boxercise and attempting to continually improve her French and Italian speaking skills.

Laura Tullett
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Laura joined Sherrards in February 2017 and undertakes a varied role in the team, but primarily focuses on business development and marketing.

A former Business Analyst for a multifaceted business, Laura’s role includes developing contacts, ascertaining and fulfilling the needs of current and prospective clients.
In her spare time, Laura enjoys spending time with her family. She also supports and project manages her husband’s property development ventures.

Caroline Evans
BOOKKEEPER
Caroline trained as a bookkeeper through the Association of Accounting Technicians. She joined Sherrards in early 2016 to process the day to day financial transactions of the business.

Previously to this, her career was in the music industry. She worked at EMI Publishing, Sony and Universal in various roles including Marketing Co-ordinator, Graphic Designer and Executive Co-Ordinator.
Caroline is bringing up a young family and enjoys pilates, going to music gigs and visiting National Trust Properties.

Ivy Davis
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH ADMINISTRATOR
Ivy is our Occupational Health administrator and joined the business in August 2024. Ivy had previously worked in the care industry and pharmacy, gaining 10+ years of customer service, and health care experience. Ivy has a wonderfully calm demeanour and is excellent at recognising the needs of the clients when it comes to the provision of OH services.
