Experienced Employment Law Solicitor
We would like to hear from solicitors with about 2 to 3 years’ post qualification experience to join our team. We have a first class predominantly employer client base, including many international businesses. The varied role will include handling employment tribunal cases, advising clients on a wide range of employment law issues and delivering training. Intensive training and rapid career development will be provided by our very experienced and respected solicitors. You will work with a friendly and cohesive team.
A competitive salary is offered, commensurate with experience as well as a package of benefits.
The practice is in an attractive semi-rural location in West Sussex, and a driving licence and own vehicle are essential.

Dan Soanes - Director, Solicitor
Dan, a Director of Sherrards, is a very experienced employment law specialist solicitor. He has represented the firm’s clients at many Employment Tribunals around the UK, and provides advice on a wide range of employment issues. Dan is noted for his incisive but practical approach to employment law issues.
Victoria Bevis - Director, Solicitor
Victoria is a Director of Sherrards and has practised as a specialist employment law solicitor since joining the firm in 2009. Regarded by clients as being both practical and approachable, Victoria has a strong focus on reaching the best commercial outcome for our clients.
Lorraine Sherrard - HR Consultant
Lorraine is a Director and founder of Sherrards Resourcing. Lorraine is practical and logical in her approach to projects and understands that time is the essence on recruitment projects.
Pam Austen - Practice Manager
Pam joined the team of Sherrards in a newly created role of Practice Manager taking on the responsibility for general management of the firm. Pam has extensive knowledge of operational management at executive and senior level positions working in a range of disciplines and across established organisations and start-ups.
Rachel Nicholas - Solicitor
Rachel joined Sherrards in November 2018. Rachel graduated from the University of Brighton with an LLB (Honours) and went on to complete a Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Guildford.
Cathal McCabe - Solicitor
Cathal, the newest member of the team at Sherrards, qualified in March 2020, having completed his training contract in a busy solicitors in Surrey. Cathal holds an LLB and LLM from Bangor University and obtained a Distinction while studying his LPC in Guildford.
Jane Smith - Solicitor
Jane is an experienced employment law solicitor who qualified in 2006. Having worked in several other regional law firms, Jane has successfully represented clients in many different sectors including the aviation, travel, construction, retail and public sectors.
Peter Jones - Solicitor
Peter is a specialist employment lawyer with 10 years’ experience advising employers in the commercial and not for profit sectors and senior executives and professionals in connection with HR, whistleblowing and discrimination issues.
Graham Walls - Head of Finance
Graham trained as an accountant with Grant Thornton and has worked in the UK and overseas, gaining broad experience in a variety of industries with particular focus on the growth of small to medium sized companies. Graham joined Sherrards in 2004 and oversees the finance function.
Sarah Hammant - Marketing Manager
Sarah joined the team at Sherrards in March 2010 and is responsible for all marketing activities from events and advertising to PR and direct marketing. Sarah started her career in the high technology industry and has held marketing communications roles in many other industries including pharmaceuticals, training and design.
Laura Tullett - Business Development Assistant
Laura joined Sherrards in February 2017 and undertakes a varied role in the team, but primarily focuses on business development and marketing. A former Business Analyst for a multifaceted business, Laura’s role includes developing contacts, ascertaining and fulfilling the needs of current and prospective clients.
Karen Lewis - Team PA and Office Coordinator
Karen is responsible for coordinating the Occupational Health service offered by Sherrards by meeting the needs of clients and responding to all enquiries. Karen also assists all solicitors with the administration of their legal work, manages the office and produces clients’ accounts.
Caroline Evans - Bookkeeper
Caroline trained as a bookkeeper through the Association of Accounting Technician’s. She joined Sherrards in early 2016 to process the day to day financial transactions of the business.
Ashley Fearon - Mediator
Ashley has over 30 years senior Human Resource experience gained in the insurance industry and had HR responsibility both in the UK and Europe. Since 2007, Ashley has worked as a mediation consultant for Sherrards with a high rate of success in resolving a wide range of complex workplace disputes.
Sue Chesterman - HR Consultant
Sue has over 25 years’ generalist and international HR experience and most recently worked as HR Director in a travel technology company. She is a Chartered Member of the CIPD with a strong background in the retail and technology industry sectors partnering with commercial stakeholders and technology leadership to deliver customer solutions and services.
